Rosales, Tiffert expected to be ready for Saturday’s game in Portland (injury report)

Seattle Sounders FC Logo.jpgSounders FC coach Sigi Schmid had good news on the injury front Tuesday. The team’s pair of DP midfielders, Christian Tiffert and Mauro Rosales, are expected to be available for Saturday’s road game in Portland after dealing with injury issues last weekend.

Tiffert started last week against Chivas USA but had to leave in the second half due to a lingering ankle injury and underwent an MRI recently.

“It turned out there was nothing serious there,” Schmid said.

Tiffert walked and jogged with a trainer off to the side during Tuesday’s practice before going inside.

Rosales missed last week’s game with a quad injury that had been bothering him since a grueling road game in the Dallas heat. He participated in the first half of Tuesday’s practice before working off to the side during the last scrimmage drills.

In other injury news, forward/midfielder David Estrada trained in full Tuesday — a sign that he’s getting even closer to his return from a broken foot.

“We’ll see how this week goes for him,” Schmid said. “Tomorrow’s … just an optional (training day) for some of the guys, then we’ll see how he looks on Thursday.”

Defender Leo Gonzalez left the practice field with an ice pack on his knee, but Schmid indicated that it wasn’t serious.

“His knee looks fine,” the coach said.
