Sounders FC has already clinched Group 4 but the CONCACAF Champions League is continuing on.
Elsewhere in Seattle’s group, CD Marathon of Honduras earned a 2-1 home win Wednesday against Caledonia AIA of Trinidad and Tobago. Posted above are how the standings look with one games to go (the Sounders hosts Marathon on Oct. 24 with only quarterfinal seeding implications on the line).
If you take a look at the full standings, the Los Angeles Galaxy and Houston Dynamo also have good chances of making it to the quarterfinals (LA can clinch tonight if the Puerto Rico Islanders beat Isidro Metapan of El Salvador). Real Salt Lake and Toronto FC have some work to do to make the final eight.
Let’s get to some links:

— Regarding the upcoming Portland game, here’s a reminder that Gorilla FC is planting 10 trees for every Sounders goal scored against the Timbers. That will happen on Oct. 14, a week after the game. Oh, and that supporters group is also endorsing Adrian Hanauer in the upcoming GM vote.

— Also, Peter Nowak‘s lawsuit against the Union has reportedly been dismissed, here’s a preview of Kyle Beckerman‘s MLS 36 episode, and USMNT defender Michael Orozco talks about wanting to come back to the league.
