It’s Portland Week again (Tuesday links)

Portland Timbers Logo.jpgThe stadium is just about full. The 2012 Cascadia Cup is approaching resolution. The race for playoff seeding in the West is fierce.

There are a lot of story lines going into Sunday’s game against the Timbers.

The Sounders resume training today and I’ve have updates later this afternoon. As a side note, my car didn’t survive the trip back from Vancouver for very long, so I’ll be dealing with that, as well.

— Be sure to check out Steve Kelley’s column on Edmonds CC soccer coach Brandon Mitalas.

— Did you see former Sounders FC trialist Eidur Gudjohnsen has signed with a team in Belgium?

— Also, Seattle’s Servando Carrasco was named MLS W.O.R.K.S. Humanitarian of the Month, New York’s Thierry Henry was named MLS Player of the Week, and Houston’s BBVA Compass Stadium will be hosting Mexico’s World Cup qualifier against Guyana nexst week.

— Around the league, teams have been hit hard with knee injuries: A.J. DeLaGarza could be out until the playoffs, Montreal’s Nelson Rivas is out for the year, as is Mehdi Ballouchy of the San Jose Earthquakes.

— The Offside Rules found a couple videos: First, Kyle Beckerman‘s MLS 36 episode before it’s aired and also a long interview with Red Bulls new addition Tim Cahill.

— Here’s the Tacoma Stars schedule for the upcoming PASL season.

— Lastly, here’s the latest track from Steve Zakuani from a soon-to-be released album for charity…
