ECS to host pregame block party at Fuel (Thursday links)

Sunday should be a special day with CenturyLink Field filling up to the brim for the Sounders-Timbers game.

If you want to get the fun going early, the ECS will be hosting a pregame block party starting at noon. Here are some more details from the supporters group:

“Located at the corner of Occidental Avenue and South Washington Street, this 21+, no-cover event will feature a beer garden, food and full bar, ECS membership and merchandise tables, and live music on the Ruffneck Scarves Stage by Negative Balance and King County Queens.”

Let’s get to some links:

* * *

— A couple Sounders will be going pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Here’s a picture of Fredy Montero’s cleats and here are Michael Gspurning’s gloves.

— ESPN.com caught up with coach Sigi Schmid, who said he doesn’t mind that the Sounders are flying below the radar heading into the playoffs.

— Three Sounders were named to this list of the top 100 American soccer players. Can you guess the three before checking out the link?

— Around the league, Vancouver eliminated three teams from possible playoff contention by beating Chivas USA, 4-0, on Wednesday. Only the Whitecaps or FC Dallas can earn that final berth in the West. Elsewhere, here’s more preview material from Portland, the Stanley Cup visited Galaxy practice, and here’s a look at the league trying to encourage a certain style of play.

— A couple reports, Soccer By Ives and Goal.com, have linked the Red Bulls with potential new head coaches. This coming after the team got rid of its GM this week.

— USsoccer.com has this long Q&A with coach Jurgen Klinsmann.

Grantland has an interesting piece on Everton’s David Moyes, who is the third-longest tenured coach in the EPL.

— I saw this link tweeted out by the Sounders Women, where Kate Deines and Veronica Perez were apparently knocked out of the Women’s Champions League.

— And, of course, a hype video for the big game…
