Mario Martinez helps lead Honduras rout of Canada, Adam Johansson watches Sweden comeback on bench

fifa logo.jpgIt’s been a wild day of FIFA World Cup qualifying action, and the U.S. national team hasn’t even kicked off against Guatemala yet (that post will come later).

A few Sounders might have been involved in some of the craziest action.

First off, midfielder Mario Martinez scored twice as Honduras blasted Canada, 8-1, to advance to the final round of CONCACAF qualifying. Jerry Bengston and Carlos Costly each netted hat tricks in the rout.

UPDATE: Highlights of the Honduras game have been embedded below.

Also, defender Adam Johansson was on the bench for Sweden, which amazingly overcame a four-goal deficit in the second half against Germany to earn a 4-4 tie.

All the details are available at FIFA.com.

Now we’ll see what Eddie Johnson has for an encore following his two-goal performance Friday against Antigua & Barbuda…
