Northwest Soccer Legends Night coming up on Nov. 2 (Thursday links)

The Tacoma Soccer Center will be hosting the first annual “Northwest Soccer Legends Night” on Nov. 2, essentially a celebration of the standouts that have graced the area for the part several decades.

The feature event will be an indoor match at 7 p.m. and fans can meet the players before and after the game. Brian Schmetzer and Jimmy McAllister will serve as the coaches (barring any MLS playoff conflict for Schmetzer).

Gates open at 5 p.m. and tickets are $5 for all ages. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

Expected participants: Ralph Black, Tom Bunnell, Ben Dragavon, Jason Farrell, Taylor Graham, Gary Heale, Ezra Hendrickson (also barring any MLS playoff conflict), Sean Henderson, Danny Jackson, Dick McCormick, Mike Morris, Viet Nguyen, Leighton O’Brien, Dennis Sanchez, Darren Sawatzky, Todd Stauber, Erik Storkson, Joe Waters.

— There will also be a cool event going on at Golazo headquarters tomorrow. Here’s a note from the website:

Golazo, Washington Youth Soccer, and the Think Taylor Foundation, are teaming up to help raise awareness of head injuries and concussion in soccer with a free event on Friday, October 19th at 7 pm. A special screening of Head Games, a critically-acclaimed film that exposes viewers to one of the leading public health issues of our time, head injuries and concussions, will be held at Golazo’s Seattle Headquarters (714 E Pike St). Taylor Twellman, 2005 MLS MVP & MLS Golden Boot Winner, ESPN Analyst, and founder of the Think Taylor Foundation, will be making a special appearance. Light refreshments will be served.

— The fall season of Soccer for Success, a U.S. Soccer Foundation program with Washington Youth Soccer will be kicking off.
