Adam Johansson called up by Sweden for Jan. 23-26 tournament, Feb. 6 friendly

johansson mug 2012.jpgSounders FC defender Adam Johansson has been called up by Sweden’s national team for the King’s Cup tournament in Thailand from Jan. 23-26, according to the team website.

Johansson, 29, has 12 caps and will also be a part of the squad for a Feb. 6 friendly against Argentina.

Seattle forward Eddie Johnson is another player expected to be called up this month; he intimated on Twitter recently that a call-up by the U.S. men’s national team for January camp was likely. One has to think midfielder Brad Evans will also be in consideration after being an alternate for FIFA World Cup qualifiers at the end of last year and a member of the last January camp.

Lastly, midfielder Mario Martinez is a mainstay on the Honduran national team and seemingly always involved when international action comes around.
