Sounders FC is sending a delegation, led by goalkeeper-turned-broadcaster Kasey Keller and defender Marc Burch, to Tanzania for nine days to teach soccer clinics and “raise awareness for programs with Washington State ties,” according to a news release.
Fans can track the trip on SoundersFC.com and the team’s social media accounts.
The Sounders have had a multifaceted relationship with Tanzania for a couple years now (including some prominent displays at CenturyLink Field). The team’s delegation, in partnership with the Washington Global Health Alliance (WGHA), will visit three Seattle-based global health organizations with a presence in the area, as well as the Ngorongoro Crater in Dar es Salaam.
“The trip will help strengthen our partnership with Tanzania and offer an insider’s view to three very impactful programs connected to the WGHA,” said majority owner Joe Roth in the release.
“Kasey and Marc will be great ambassadors for the team.”
