Sounders FC

Daily coverage of Seattle Sounders FC, MLS and world soccer.

January 7, 2013 at 11:15 AM

Full 2013 MLS schedule to be released Wednesday at 9 a.m.

The wait will soon be over.

The full 2013 MLS schedule is scheduled to be released at 9 a.m. Wednesday.

We already know Sounders FC will open its league season March 2 at home against Montreal and receive a Week 2 bye to focus on CONCACAF Champions League duties. Seattle faces Mexico’s Tigres UANL in a two-leg quarterfinal, the first leg on the road on March 6 and the second at home on March 12.

2013 is set to mark the end of a two-year scheduling cycle within the league regarding home and away games. For example, since the Sounders played on the road against Portland twice and just once at home in 2012, that should be reversed in the coming season.

Remember, Seattle plays each Western Conference team three times and each Eastern Conference team once.

Here’s how things should look:

Seattle hosts twice, visits once from the West: Chivas USA, FC Dallas, Portland, Vancouver

Seattle visits twice, hosts once from the West: Colorado, LA Galaxy, Real Salt Lake, San Jose

Seattle hosts from the East: Chicago, D.C. United, Montreal, New England, New York

Seattle visits from the East: Columbus, Houston, Philadelphia, Sporting KC, Toronto FC

You can also be assured the Sounders will feature heavily when it comes to national televised games on ESPN, ESPN2 or the NBC Sports Network.
