UPDATE: This post was originally published last month, but I’ve brought it back as a reminder heading into Saturday’s celebration of Mike Ryan’s life. There is some more information available on the event.
Everyone is invited and parking is free in the E1 parking lot at the north end of campus. Donations will be accepted at the door and online at www.NWSoccer.org to benefit the Mike Ryan Memorial Scholarship Fund through the Northwest Soccer Camp, which Ryan co-founded.
There will be good, music, dancing and a silent auction.
Also, here is a Facebook page set up to remember Ryan’s life.

Details have been made available regarding a celebration of Mike Ryan‘s life. The Seattle soccer legend died last month at age 77.
The event, barring any late changes, will be Jan. 12 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Hec Ed Pavilion concourse at the University of Washington (where Ryan helped launch the men’s varsity soccer program).
According to Ryan’s daughter Siobhan, there will be food, music and dancing. Cliff McCrath, another Seattle soccer staple, and Marty Rood, a former UW men’s soccer player, are helping organize.
I’ll have another reminder with any updates closer to the event.
