An updated preseason camp roster

Seattle Sounders FC Logo.jpgHere are some notes regarding Sounders FC’s training camp roster this preseason.

— First off, you should know that it sounds like there are still going to be some moves at the top of the roster. Here’s how coach Sigi Schmid put it when asked about his early feelings on the group: “I think there are a few issues that we need to resolve, and once we resolve those issues I think everything’s going to come together really, really well. The sooner those things get resolved, the easier it is maybe on my mind a little bit, but in terms of the spirit of the team and the effort they’re putting in, even the movement of the ball within training, I’ve been very happy with that.”

— There were some new arrivals Thursday, supplemental draft picks Kevin Olali and Jennings Rex. Also, South Florida midfielder/defender Anshani Fairclough, a former Jamaican youth international, has joined the group as a trialist.

— No departures yet, as far as I can tell, from guys that have shown up.

— Regarding those who haven’t reported, right now it’s unclear if Cordell Cato or Blair Gavin ever will. Will Bates is set to undergo knee surgery to repair his meniscus, so he’s not expected for a while. Kevin Durr has commitments with the Air Force Academy before he can join. Lebogang Moloto is expected in Friday.

— Here’s more from Schmid on Durr’s availability: “We’re in communication and talking to them. I think he’s going to have an opportunity to join us in Arizona for a period of time. Part of it is he has a little bit of leave coming, so he’ll use some of his leave time. They also have a school break in there. But he’s definitely got to finish this semester at school, because is his last semester, so he has to finish that up and then there’s a discussion as to where he does the next part of his Air Force commitment. They can obviously assign him to different places, but I think they have a program that takes into account if someone has a chance or has been drafted by a pro league, so we’ll find out all those details.”

— In injury news, it looks like David Opoku might’ve taken a knock. He was off to the side today. Sammy Ochoa, who’s overcoming an illness, did some jogging.
