Poll: Do you have any loyalties within the local women’s soccer scene?

Make no mistake, Reign FC goalkeeper Hope Solo thinks the Sounders Women are doing great things for women’s soccer.

But when it comes to the possibility of divided loyalties among local fans?

“There’s no competition,” Solo said at Thursday’s press conference, “because it’s a different level. It’s a division two team versus a pro team.”

The NWSL, Solo added, will offer “the best of the best” players, including many of the stars (Alex Morgan, Megan Rapinoe, etc.) that helped drive so much attention to the Sounders Women last summer. But even with those players moving to the new pro league, that doesn’t mean the two local teams can’t have an amicable relationship — perhaps even a productive one.

“You’re going to get maybe your right-out-of-college players playing for the Sounders; maybe they’re trying to maybe get more experience at a higher level before they can maybe filter over to the Reign,” Solo said. “So it could be looked at as a really positive thing if we decide to look at it that way.”

Interesting idea.

What do you think?

Do you have any loyalties within the local women’s soccer scene? If so, where do they lie?
