Trialists take down U18s (Monday links)

I stuck around Saturday’s training session at the VMAC, so I wasn’t able to catch any of a scrimmage that afternoon at Starfire between the Sounders’ preseason camp trialists/youngsters/draftees and the U-18 academy team.

The team website has a full report and highlights (above) on the newcomers’ 3-0 win over the U18s, which featured goals by draft pick Kevin Olali and trialists Justin David and Travis Bowen. It also looked like DeAndre Yedlin was involved in the the buildup to at least two of the goals.

— Interesting news regarding an Israeli team that might be open to signing Muslim players for the first time despite pressure from some fans.

Horrible news out of Egypt. The country’s national team coach, Bob Bradley, chatted with ESPN.com about it.

— Forbes thinks Manchester United is worth a lot of money.

— Lastly, the Kitsap Pumas will be holding open tryouts on Feb. 9-10 at Gordon Field at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds.
