Eddie Johnson, Brad Evans start for USMNT in listless 0-0 tie against Canada

* * *

The game was hardly exciting, and the result was underwhelming, but the U.S. men’s national team’s scoreless tie Tuesday against Canada had a distinct Sounders FC feel.

Brad Evans started and played a full 90 (the first half as an attacking center mid, which raised some eyebrows, and the second half as a right back).

Eddie Johnson started and played 73 minutes.

The highlights from Houston’s BBVA Compass Stadium are posted above, if you dare. Here is some postgame analysis from ESPN.com, SI.com and ProSoccerTalk.

The expectation is that Johnson will stick with the USMNT though a Feb. 6 World Cup qualifier at Honduras. It’s unsure whether Evans will, as well. If he doesn’t, he could join Sounders’ preseason training camp by the weekend.
