Lots of Reign FC news could be coming soon (Amy Rodriguez pregnant, out for 2013)

reignfc.jpgUPDATE 9:12 p.m. — The team has also confirmed Teresa Noyola, a Mexican international, is under contract with Dutch club ADO Den Haag in will join the club in June. You might remember U.S. midfielder Megan Rapinoe is in the same boat, but will France’s Lyon.

UPDATE 8:36 p.m. — The team has confirmed reports that forward Amy Rodriguez, a U.S. international, is pregnant and will miss the 2013 season.

“We congratulate Amy and her husband on this wonderful news. We let her know that we are here to support her in any way we can and that we look forward to having her join our club in 2014.” — Bill Predmore, owner.

“In light of this news we are conferring with NWSL about potential adjustments to the cap and roster. We expect a decision will be announced by the league very soon.” — Amy Carnell, general manager.

“Amy’s pregnancy came as quite a surprise and has introduced some challenges that we are now beginning to work through. We expect a huge boost mid-season when Rapinoe and Noyola join the club, but in the meantime we will address the gaps created by the absences of Rodriguez, Rapinoe and Noyola through free agent signings and the supplemental draft next week. — Laura Harvey, head coach.

Reign FC provided updates on various topics on its Facebook page Tuesday night. Here’s a recap…

* * *

— Ticket sales are exceeding the team’s expectations and the VIP tables and premium grandstand seating are close to selling out. Game tickets and group tickets will be available by mid-March.

— The team has agreed to terms with three players (one international) and those deals could be announced by early next week. A supplemental draft will be Feb. 7 to help fill out the roster. A “player-related update” is apparently coming Wednesday morning.

— It sounds like all eight NWSL teams will have the same jersey sponsor, perhaps I’m reading that wrong, but jerseys won’t be available until just before the season.

— Other Reign FC merchandise could be available by early March.

— A temporary team website could be launched next week. A full site will launch in April prior to the season.

— Open tryouts are planned, but no details are available yet.

— The NWSL schedule could be announced by Feb. 15. Efforts are being made to avoid midweek games and conflicts with Sounders FC.

— Training camp starts March 11.

— The NWSL regular season is set to start the weekend of April 13 and the league championship game will be Saturday, Aug. 31.

— The team’s plan is to stream its games.
