Another look at the preseason camp roster

Seattle Sounders FC Logo.jpgHere are some quick notes regarding Sounders FC’s preseason training camp roster. A more comprehensive look was covered in a previous post

— It has been confirmed that invitee Mason Trafford is no longer with the team.

— Goalkeeper Michael Gspurning was another guy absent from practice, but I was told it was supposedly for dentist’s appointment.

Christian Tiffert jogged off to the side, but coach Sigi Schmid indicated the DP midfielder would be good to go in Tucson.

— Schmid said it was good to be back from Arizona: “It’s good to get on our field and be able to sleep in our beds, so that part of it is good. We leave soon enough again. We’ve got another two weeks down there to get some games, but it’s good to get a little break here and be at home.”

— And did the team learn anything from the Timbers game Tuesday? “It was such a difficult game from a standpoint of guys who were sick, missing guys (with national teams and being sick/injured). Obviously it helped us in terms of trying to evaluate some of the defenders we’re looking at, so it was important in that regard, and also our evaluation of where we are fitness-wise. I think we’re pretty good. It showed today with a couple days rest — they had a bounce in their step again, so it was really good that way, as well.”
