Obafemi Martins tells BBC Sport his transfer to Sounders FC is nearly complete
Certainly, the Obafemi Martins transfer to Sounders FC has seemed close to a done deal for several days now.
But the Nigerian forward recently gave perhaps the strongest indication that his move from Spain Levante UD is imminent.
“We are on the verge of finalizing everything and it should be another step in my career,” Martins told BBC Sport.
He also mentioned that it was a good offer from the Sounders that benefits everyone. The report said the expectation is that everything will be signed by Saturday.
Here’s a report that indicates MLS official Lino DiCuollo went to Spain on Thursday to help finalize the transfer.
This all, of course, has been a hot topic since The Washington Post first reported about the interest nine days ago. Then Sports Illustrated was first to report on Monday that a Sounders FC official was in Spain to secure the acquisition (confirmed soon after by us). And it appears as though we’re nearing resolution.
Any thoughts?
