Sounders FC vs. Tigres UANL, CCL lineups

tigres home 2013

Welcome to a wet CenturyLink Field, where the rain is lightly falling on this Tuesday night before the second leg of the CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinal between Sounders FC and Tigres UANL.

The Mexican visitors hold a 1-0 series advantage, meaning they would advance with any win, tie, or a loss by one goal that involves at least one Tigres goal scored.

Seattle needs a two-goal win to advance or a 1-0 win to send the series into extra time.

The Sounders are aiming to become the first MLS team to eliminate a Mexican opponent in the CCL knockout rounds since the tournament format changed in 2008-09. Tigres did, however, travel with a less-than-full-strength squad, which might help the home team’s prospects.

Guys already ruled out for Seattle are defenders Adam Johansson (knee) and Patrick Ianni (foot), and midfielder Shalrie Joseph (calf). Other injury concerns are forward David Estrada (ankle), and midfielders Mario Martinez (knee) and Steve Zakuani (ankle) — though Zakuani appears furthest along.

I’ll post lineups below when they become available.

Sounders FC lineup: GK Michael Gspurning, D DeAndre Yedlin, D Jhon Kennedy Hurtado, D Djimi Traore, D Leo Gonzalez, M Mauro Rosales, M Osvaldo Alonso, M Brad Evans, M Steve Zakuani, F Sammy Ochoa, F Eddie Johnson

Sounders FC bench: GK Marcus Hahnemann, D Marc Burch, D Zach Scott, M Andy Rose, M Lamar Neagle, M Alex Caskey, M Mario Martinez

Tigres UANL lineup: GK Jorge Diaz de Leon, D Abraham Stringel, D Hugo Rodriguez, D Alonso Zamora, D Jose Rivas, M Alberto Acosta, M Jesus Duenas, M Manuel Viniegra, M Jonathan Bornstein, F Elias Hernandez, F Alan Pulido

Tigres UANL bench: Aaron Fernandez, Taufic Guarch, Martin Reyes, Josue Aguilar, Jorge Espericueta

NOTE: Only Acosta and Hernandez started in the first leg for Tigres, which only has five players on the bench. Changes for Seattle — IN: Yedlin, Zakuani, Ochoa. OUT: Scott, Caskey, Martinez.
