An updated roster after another week of personnel moves

Seattle Sounders FC LogoHere is an updated roster with some personnel notes as of Friday…

— The main two additions are defender Ashani Fairclough and midfielder Philip Lund, whose signings were announced Friday.

— Defender Adam Johansson has officially been waived, a move we’ve known was coming since Tuesday.

— That gives the Sounders 29 players under contract (one spot available) with two unsigned guys still in camp, trialist goalkeeper Doug Herrick and rookie forward Will Bates. Coach Sigi Schmid has given no indications that the team plans on carrying four goalkeepers, so that’s something to keep in mind. Bates has also been recovering from knee surgery. Moving players to the injured list opens up roster spots, which could factor in later in the year, perhaps in the summer, if more signings are coming.

— Regarding international players, Seattle has five of seven spots taken up by Mario Martinez, Andy Rose, Djimi Traore, Obafemi Martins and Lund. I’m not sure if Fairclough counts as an international, since the media guide says he has permanent residence status. A team spokesman is looking into the matter.

— Former trialist Travis Bowen has signed with Phoenix FC of USL PRO, the same club of former Sounders goalkeeper Andrew Weber and a few other guys with local connections. Schmid indicated the team will keep a tabs on Bowen.
