The quick and fun story of Herculez Gomez, the Sounders and a pillow

Herculez Gomez is a funny dude. If you follow him on Twitter, you probably already know this.

What you may also know is the U.S. men’s national team forward likes to banter back and forth with Sounders FC fans (good examples here and here).

Gomez, of course, plays professionally for Mexico’s Santos Laguna, which beat Seattle in the 2011-12 CCL quarterfinals and is set for a rematch in the 2012-13 CCL semifinals starting Tuesday at CenturyLink Field.

Anyways, Gomez’ Twitter banter with the Sounders’ faithful was at an all-time high in mid-March after the semifinal matchup was set, and that led to this entertaining series of tweets that resolved recently:
