Sounders FC vs. Santos Laguna, lineups

santos home 2013

Welcome to CenturyLink Field, where everything but the upper deck is open for tonight’s first leg of a CONCACAF Champions League semifinal between Sounders FC and Mexico’s Santos Laguna.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and FOX Soccer has the television broadcast.

The second leg in the two-game, aggregate-goals series is April 9 in Torreon, Mexico.

Seattle may be struggling in league play (a franchise-worst start at 0-3-1) but was the first MLS team to eliminate a Mexican opponent in the CCL knockout rounds since a tournament format change in 2008. The reward? Do it again.

This is a rematch of a 2011-12 CCL quarterfinal, where the Sounders won the first leg at home, 2-1, but were blown out by Santos in the second leg on the road to lose 7-3 on aggregate.

Injury doubts for the Sounders are Obafemi Martins, Eddie Johnson and David Estrada. It’s possible we could see the debut of Shalrie Joseph, however.

I’ll post lineups below when they become available.

Sounders FC lineup: GK Marcus Hahnemann, D DeAndre Yedlin, D Zach Scott, D Djimi Traore, D Leo Gonzalez, M Mario Martinez, M Brad Evans, M Shalrie Joseph, M Osvaldo Alonso, M Alex Caskey, F Sammy Ochoa

Sounders FC bench: GK Josh Ford, D Marc Burch, D Jhon Kennedy Hurtado, M Mauro Rosales, M Steve Zakuani, M Andy Rose, M Lamar Neagle

Santos Laguna lineup: GK Oswaldo Sanchez, D Felipe Baloy, D Jorge Estrada, D Osmar Mares, D Rafael Figueroa, M Rodolfo Salinas, M Marc Crosas, M Juan Pablo Rodriguez, F Herculez Gomez, F Oribe Peralta, F Carlos Quintero

Santos Laguna bench: GK Julio Gonzalez, D Aaron Galindo, D Cesar Ibanez, M Edgar Lugo, M Nestor Calderon, M Candido Ramirez, F Mario Cardenas

NOTE: Forwards Obafemi Martins, Eddie Johnson and David Estrada all are out for the Sounders. Shalrie Joseph makes his debut in the starting lineup. Santos starts a very strong lineup.
