Sounders FC’s 2013 season hasn’t been particularly flattering, so far, especially losses in each of the past three games.
March 23 — at San Jose, 0-1 (MLS)
March 30 — at Real Salt Lake, 1-2 (MLS)
April 2 — vs. Santos Laguna, 0-1 (CCL)
That is Seattle’s first three-game losing streak in all competitions since 2010, when the team lost four in a row at the end of the season: 0-1 vs. Saprissa in CCL (Oct. 19), 1-2 at Houston in MLS (Oct. 23), 0-1 vs. Galaxy in playoffs (Oct. 31), 1-2 at Galaxy in playoffs (Nov. 7).
The Sounders did lose three in a row in the summer of 2011, but one of those defeats was in a friendly against Manchester United, which obviously doesn’t count.
When you include carry-over from season to season, the Sounders lost six in a row in all competitions from the end of 2010 (mentioned above) to the first two games of 2011.
Last year was particularly impressive in this context, as Seattle never lost back-to-back games at any point.
