Reporters got a chance to catch up briefly with Sounders FC midfielder Osvaldo Alonso (right) after Saturday’s game. This came after we chatted with U.S. national team coach Jurgen Klinsmann, specifically about Alonso at one point.
Here is what Alonso had to say on the matter through a translator.

(Do you just have to be patient in this process or do you think it might not happen for you?) “I know that the situation is complicated and I know there have been conversations. My only hope is that through the work that is happening right now I will have an opportunity to play for the national team.”
(What does it feel to know you’ll still on Klinsmann’s mind?) “It will always make me happy to think that he’s still thinking of me, and if the opportunity arises I’ll take it and I’ll do my best to take advantage of it.”
(How important is it to you personally to have this chance to play for the USMNT?) “It is definitely important. Cuba is not giving me the opportunity to play with the national team in Cuba anymore, so if the U.S. team is opening the doors, I’m very happy about it and I’ll do my best.”
