Reign FC falls to 0-2-1, home opener Saturday
I’ll be catching up on a number of matters here on the blog after a couple days off vacation, plus a day of Mariners coverage.
First off is a brief update on Reign FC, which fell to 0-2-1 in the NWSL season after a 2-0 road loss Friday night to FC Kansas City. Lauren Cheney provided assists on both goals, which were scored by Sinead Farrelly (21st minute) and Renae Cuellar (71st).
“I personally think Kansas City is the best team in the league,” Seattle coach Laura Harvey told The Kansas City Star in our recap from league reports. “Lauren Cheney is a great player, and she proved that tonight.”
Kansas City (1-0-1) drew 4,064 fans.
Seattle’s next game is a rematch against FCKC and also Reign FC’s home opener — 8 p.m. at Starfire Stadium in Tukwila. Tickets, starting at $19, are available at ReignFC.com.
