Sounders still on worst-ever start but can catch the 2010 team with a win Wednesday
A worst-ever start.
That’s a label Sounders FC has had this season since the end of March. But that could end with a win Wednesday at Sporting Kansas City.
Well, this year’s team would actually tie the 2010 group for the worst-ever eight-game start at 2-3-3.
Here’s a look at Seattle’s record year-by-year after seven games:
2009: 4-2-1, 13 points
2010: 2-2-3, 9 points
2011: 2-2-3, 9 points
2012: 5-1-1, 16 points
2013: 1-3-3, 6 points
The 2010 group went on to lose that eighth game (it was a memorable one, the 4-0 refund-inducing defeat at home to the Galaxy). And, if you remember, the Sounders were 4-8-3 at the midway point of that season but went on to make the playoffs.
Still 27 games to go…
