Big news came from across the pond Wednesday morning, as Manchester United announced its legendary manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, will be retiring after this Premier League season.

Here is a list of the 49 titles won by Ferguson, 38 with the Red Devils. Here is a compilation of some of his best quotes.

I wrote a larger feature on Manchester United before their 2011 friendly against the Sounders, and Ferguson, of course, featured heavily.

Let’s get to some links:

*     *     *

— Sounders FC’s DeAndre Yedlin was interviewed here at U.S. U-20 camp a while back. The youth national team will participate in a tournament before this summer’s World Cup, and here are some details.

— Around MLS, New England made a big trade with Chivas USA for forward Juan Agudelo, Portland’s whole team was named Humanitarian of the Month for making Atticus‘s wish come true, and Houston has been dealing with a homophobic tweet from a supporters group.

— The Utah soccer community is coming out in strong support of a referee who died after being punched by a 17 year old.

— The first round of the U.S. Open Cup was settled following Tuesday’s play-in round games.

— In some NWSL awards, Portland’s Christine Sinclair was named Player of the Month and Boston’s Sydney Leroux was named Player of the Week.

— Lastly, Jay-Z wants Neymar as a client at his sports agency?
