Sounders reserves lose to Orlando City at Tacoma’s Cheney Stadium

The Sounders FC reserves fell to 1-2-1 in the MLS Reserve League with a 2-0 loss Sunday against Orlando City SC of the USL PRO.

The game was played at Tacoma’s Cheney Stadium as a way to test the market as the Sounders explore possibilities for their own USL PRO affiliate. The Tacoma New Tribune covered some of that aspect to the game for Monday’s paper.

Orlando City’s Dom Dwyer, who is on loan from Sporting Kansas City, scored both goals in Sunday’s game — and you can check out the highlights above.

From a first-team perspective, Shalrie Joseph (90 minutes) and Steve Zakuani (55 minutes) were in action in their returns from injury, a sign their roles could be expanded Saturday against FC Dallas.

The next reserve game for the Sounders is June 2 at Chivas USA.
