Sounders FC 2, Chivas USA 0, video highlights and a heap of postgame notes

The video highlights from Sounders FC’s 2-0 road win Saturday against Chivas USA, at the newly named StubHub Center, are embedded above. I’ve added a bunch of postgame notes below…

— Sounders FC has won four of five MLS games and is off to the second-best 12-game start in franchise history.
— Sounders FC is now on a 5-0-4 streak against Chivas USA, 7-0-4 in all competitions.
— Sounders FC has won three straight at Chivas by a 11-3 margin.
— Sounders FC has never given up points from a leading position against Chivas USA.
— Sounders FC has lost back-to-back games just six times over the past five seasons, and avoided a seventh Saturday.
— Sounders FC is 30-0-8 when scoring the game’s first goal (5-0-2 this season), the longest active unbeaten run in MLS dating to the end of 2010. The league record is 58 games set by New York.
— Sounders FC ended a four-game winless streak with Ricardo Salazar as referee.
— Obafemi Martins got a red card in the second half, Seattle’s fifth on the season (second most in franchise history behind the eight in 2009).
— Obafemi Martins scored his fourth goal, tied for the team lead with Eddie Johnson.
— Obafemi Martins was the quickest to four goals in franchise history in 317 minutes (previously Blaise Nkufo, 582 minutes).
— Martins, Johnson and Lamar Neagle have combined for 11 of the team’s 16 league goals.
— Osvaldo Alonso left the game with a thigh injury in his return from a groin injury.
— Michael Gspurning recorded his fifth shutout.
— Mario Martinez is set to leave for the Honduran national team for upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
— Chivas USA has lost five-straight by a combined 15-1 score. It’s a 16-1 run going into the San Jose game.
— Chivas USA is on a 0-7-1 winless streak and hasn’t held a lead in 465 minutes.
— Chivas USA has been shut out seven times and is 26-58-27 since the beginning of 2010.
— Chivas USA hasn’t scored a goal of its own in the first half, but does have an own goal for and against.
