CONCACAF held its draw for the 2013-14 Champions League group stage Monday. It actually took a few attempts — believe it or not — as the first draw didn’t even meet the federation’s own parameters of not having two teams from the same country in the same group.
This, of course, will be the first time in since the 2009-10 tournament that the Sounders aren’t involved. Others absent are three-time reigning champ Monterrey and two-time runner-up Santos Laguna of Mexico.
El Salvador’s Isidro Metapan and Honduras’ Olimpia are the only two teams to have qualified for all six editions of the tournament.
