Megan Rapinoe will be officially added to Reign FC’s roster on June 14 as the midfielder’s six-month loan deal with France’s Lyon has come to an end.
Rapinoe’s debut with Seattle is expected to come June 29 in a home game against the Chicago Red Stars at Starfire Stadium in Tukwila.
“We’re obviously quite pleased to have Megan in Seattle,” said Laura Harvey, Reign head coach and general manager, in a news release. “Megan’s talent and experience will provide a huge boost as we begin the second half of the season.”
Rapinoe and Reign goalkeeper Hope Solo were among 23 players called up by the U.S. women’s national team Wednesday for a pair of friendlies against South Korea on June 15 (Gillette Stadium, Foxborough, Mass.) and June 20 (Red Bull Arena, Harrison, N.J.). Neither had been called up for the Canada friendly over the weekend.
Solo, who made her return from wrist surgery on May 25 against Portland, is expected to be in action for Seattle this weekend, as the Reign hosts FC Kansas City at 7 p.m. Sunday at Stafire Stadium.
