Sounders FC vs. Real Salt Lake, injury report (Osvaldo Alonso ruled out)

SOUNDERS FC: OUT — M Steve Zakuani (sports hernia surgery), GK Josh Ford (R knee surgery). QUESTIONABLE — M Osvaldo Alonso (L quad strain).

REAL SALT LAKE: OUT — D Rich Balchan (L shoulder surgery), M John Stertzer (R shoulder surgery), D Chris Schuler (L foot pain), D Kwame Watson-Siriboe (R knee ACL).

UPDATE 12:05 p.m. — Here is the update from coach Sigi Schmid on Alonso: “Ozzie made improvements during the week but not enough improvements where he’s going to play this weekend. But he’s made improvements, for sure, and today was his best day.”

The main question mark for the Sounders is Alonso, and we’ll get a final update on him after Friday’s practice before the team flight. Schmid has given several indications of caution already, particularly with a bye next week.

Real Salt Lake’s injuries have hit the defense particularly hard.
