Eddie Johnson on his new hair: ‘I’ve heard it all. … but at the end of the day, it’s fun.’

ej hairSounders FC forward Eddie Johnson has a new look these days after dying his hair blonde. He chatted about it briefly after practice Monday:

*     *     *

(What went into the new look?) “It was just something Maurice Edu and Terrence Boyd on the national team we all talked about it at a camp with Maurice and we decided it’s hair, see how it looks and if we don’t like it, we cut it. But I kind of like it. Some of the fans that don’t like me don’t like it. Sometimes you want to get out of your comfort zone or try new things. It’s like in the game of sport, if you don’t take risks, you don’t know at the end of the day what the outcome is going to be.”

(What response have you gotten?) “I’ve heard it all. It’s wack. I’ve heard I look like Demolition Man or something — Wesley Snipes. What else? Cheesehead. I’ve gotten it all. But at the end of the day, it’s fun. You never know who you might inspire — what little, younger kid who’s watching who wants to be like you or idolize you. It’s something fun, so I’m just going to go with the flow right now.”
