Sounders FC vs. Vancouver, lineups

vancouver away 2013

*     *     *

Welcome to BC Place, where it’s a beautiful Saturday up here in Vancouver, British Columbia.

The Sounders are taking on the Whitecaps, resuming a rivalry that dates to 1974. Vancouver is winless, however, in the MLS era of the head-to-head series at 0-3-3.

Seattle has won six of eight coming into this one, though there are a couple injury questions coming in. Midfielder Osvaldo Alonso (quad strain) and DeAndre Yedlin (separated shoulders) are game-time decisions. I’m guessing lineups will become available around 7:15-7:30 p.m.

Guys to keep an eye on in this one are Camilo and Eddie Johnson. Vancouver’s Brazilian forward has scored in each of his past five games — an MLS record — and has six goals in Cascadia Cup meetings, the most of any active player. Seattle’s star is next with five goals in seven rivalry games. Former Sounder Fredy Montero is the all-time leader at eight goals.

I’ll post lineups here when they become available.

Sounders FC lineup: GK Michael Gspurning, D Zach Scott, D Jhon Kennedy Hurtado, D Djimi Traore, D Leo Gonzalez, M Brad Evans, M Servando Carrasco, M Shalrie Joseph, M Lamar Neagle, F Obafemi Martins, F Eddie Johnson

Sounders FC bench: GK Marcus Hahnemann, D DeAndre Yedlin, D Patrick Ianni, D Marc Burch, M Mauro Rosales, M Andy Rose, F/M David Estrada

Whitecaps lineup: GK Brad Knighton; D Lee Young-Pyo, D Brad Rusin, D Johnny Leveron, D Jordan Harvey; M Nigel Reo-Coker, M Jun Marques Davidson, M Gershon Koffie; F Corey Hertzog, F Camilo, F Kenny Miller

Whitecaps bench: GK Joe Cannon, M Matt Watson, F Darren Mattocks, M Daigo Kobayashi, F Kekuta Manneh, F Tommy Heinemann, D Greg Klazura

NOTES: This is Sounders FC’s 21st different lineup in 21 games in all competitions (MLS, U.S. Open Cup and CONCACAF Champions League). Of the two game-time decisions, Alonso is not available and Yedlin is on the bench. Also worth noting that DP Mauro Rosales was dropped to the bench. Servando Carrasco makes his 10th-straight start in MLS (he came into the year with nine career starts in two years).
