8. New England (10) Some midseason awards have newcomer Jose Goncalves as MLS Defender of the Year
9. Sounders FC (8) Will get a huge boost in the return of three-time team MVP Osvaldo Alonso from injury
10. N.Y. Red Bulls (6) Parted ways with Brazilian midfielder Juninho after a short and disappointing DP stint

12. Philadelphia (11) Winless in three and star forward Jack McInerney is away with the U.S. at the Gold Cup
13. Houston (16) Finally scored (it had been since June 1) and finally won (it had been since May 8)
14. Chicago (13) Mike Magee was hot in L.A. (six goals in 10 games) but even hotter with Fire (five in six)
15. Columbus (15) GK Matt Lampson earned a huge shutout win vs. the Timbers in his first game of the year
16. San Jose (14) Hosts Seattle on Saturday, without MVP Chris Wondolowski, having lost five of seven
17. Toronto FC (17) The reported signing of star Diego Forlan has been denied, but the team is DP shopping
18. Chivas USA (18) On a three-game unbeaten streak, but they were all ties, so the winless streak is at 13
19. D.C. United (19) Made a number of moves Tuesday, including the trade acquisition of TFC’s Luis Silva
