Megan Rapinoe named Player of the Week (Wednesday links)

reignfcReign FC midfielder Megan Rapinoe has been named NWSL Player of the Week for a two-goal, one-assist performance in Thursday’s 4-1 home win against the Chicago Red Stars.

The U.S. women’s national team star has four goals on the season, tied for Seattle’s team lead with Jess Fishlock despite having played just eight games (seven starts). Rapinoe also ranks 11th in the league in shots (36) and shots on goal (18).

The Reign are back in action Saturday at Chicago.

Let’s get to some links:

— Did you see Andrew Weber is up for MLS Save of the Week again? Also, Marc Burch was named to MLS Team of the Week.

— It appears Sounders FC target Roberto Chen, who trained here before starting for Panama in the Gold Cup, could be headed to play for Spain’s Malaga.

— Trialist Youssef Adnane has some history with David Beckham.

— In some MLS news, Hunt Sports Group has sold ownership of the Columbus Crew, here is a look at NBC’s EPL schedule and how the league here fits in, and here’s the latest from commission Don Garber on expansion (he also had a Twitter Q&A).

— U.S. Soccer held a coin flip Tuesday to see which team will host the U.S. Open Cup final. Turns out it will be the Portland/Real Salt Lake winner, not the D.C. United/Chicago winner.

— Sounders FC U-23s defender Chris Brundage was named to the 2013 PDL All-Western-Conference team.

— Looks like Mexican national team coach Jose Manuel de la Torre will be keeping his job, for now.

— Lastly, find out which MLS All-Star would like to take DeAndre Yedlin back to his club team after Wednesday’s game against AS Roma…
