Sounders FC defender DeAndre Yedlin was back with the team Thursday after playing 24 minutes in last night’s MLS All-Star Game, a 3-1 loss to Italy’s AS Roma. Coach Sigi Schmid said the limited role means the young right-back should be fine to play in Saturday’s 7:30 p.m. home game against FC Dallas.

Here is a transcript of the conversation we had with Yedlin:

*     *     *

(Did you just get back to Seattle?) “Yeah, I just got in about two hours ago, so I was just doing some treatment in the locker room.”

(Getting tired of interviews?) “(laughs) … You could say that, but I’m used to it.”

(Were you asked to be in the MLS All-Star rap?) “No, I didn’t get asked to be in that, but I’m pretty grateful that I wasn’t. It was definitely funny, but it wasn’t the best video. … (laughs)”

(What did you take away from the experience?) “Honestly, there wasn’t like a really huge thing that I learned, just a bunch of little things — what players do on and off to field to kind of help themselves. Definitely watched (Thierry) Henry a lot and just watched the little things he does, because he’s played at the top level, and that’s where I eventually want to get to. Just tried to take away little things from him and players like Marco Di Vaio, and even though Tim Cahill wasn’t playing, just stuff that he does. Just little stuff.”

(How do you think you played?) “I thought I played all right. Definitely should’ve had a goal, maybe two, but I can’t pout over it or be depressed or anything. I enjoyed the experience, and it was a great experience, and I’m proud and blessed and honored that I was able to be there.”

(Did you expect it to be so chippy?) “Yeah, I mean the Italian teams, they always kind of get a little bit dramatic, but that was expected. After the game, everything was good.”

(Did you trade jerseys?) “I did not. I think they’re going to send me one because the Roma team was being a little bit stingy about trading, I guess. We’ll see.”

(What was the major highlight?) “Probably just stepping on the field and playing in the game with that caliber of players. Those are players that I grew up watching, and it’s just a dream come true to be able to finally play with them and play against them. It was exciting.”

(How are you handling all this success?) “It’s crazy. It’s been a wild ride, and it’s really something that I never expected to happen. Everything is going so fast. I don’t think I could’ve written it any better. It’s been good. It can get a little overwhelming at times, but I try to balance it out and do the best I can stepping back, realizing what’s going on and stepping back into the moment and playing.”

(And do you think you’ll be OK to play Saturday?) “Yeah, I’ll be all right. I’m young, got young legs, and I only played 25 minutes, so that’s like a training session. Yeah, I’ll be good.”
