Sounders FC 2, Toronto FC 1, video highlights and postgame notes

Posted above are highlighted from Sounders FC’s 2-1 road win Saturday against Toronto FC, and here are some postgame notes:

*     *     *

Clint Dempsey made his Sounders FC debut in the 34th minute, replacing the injured Obafemi Martins (no update was available on the forward’s right ankle injury). It marked Dempsey’s first MLS appearance since the 2006 MLS Cup final.
— Clint Dempsey became the 27th Sounders to play an MLS game this season.
— Brad Evans and Mauro Rosales have each either had a goal or assist in the past three games.
— Brad Evans has two goals and two assists in that span and has tied a career high with five assists.
— Mauro Rosales is up to three goals this season and the team is 22-2-7 when he has a goal or assist.
— Marcus Hahnemann became the third goalkeeper in team history to win in each of his first two starts (Kasey Keller, Michael Gspurning).
— Obafemi Martins hit the 1,000-minute mark of his MLS career. In 1,033 minutes this season, Martins has registered seven goals (four game-winners) and three assists. His 0.61 goals per 90 minutes is best in club history, with a minimum of five goals.
— Eddie Johnson will be suspended for the match at Houston next Saturday due to yellow-card accumulation. He would return from USMNT duty on Thursday, which shouldn’t affect the suspension.
— Sounders FC’s 34 points at 10-7-4 are second-most in team history through 21 games. Though, a loss would’ve given the team its second-worst record at this point.
— Sounders FC has won five straight against Toronto FC and leads the series 6-1-1.
— Sounders FC is on a 34-0-8 run when scoring first, the longest active unbeaten streak in the league and 9-0-2 this season. New York holds the record at 58 games unbeaten.
— Sounders FC has won three games in a row, has gone unbeaten four and broke a three-game road losing streak. The team is 7-0-2 when leading at halftime.
— Sounders FC is on a 10-4-2 two since the woeful start.
— Sounders FC snapped a 342-minute road scoreless drought with the first goal.
