Sounders FC reserves fall to 2-6-1

A busy weekend for Sounders FC was capped to a 2-0 loss to Orlando City SC in the MLS Reserve League.

Amazingly, the game was played in front of 10,697 fans as the third-tier USL PRO team continues to make a push to get an MLS franchise as the league looks to expand to 24 teams by 2020.

Seattle’s and Orlando played a home-and-home series this season as MLS looks to develop a deeper relationship with the USL PRO, which should have each MLS team with its own third-tier franchise or an affiliation with one by 2015.

I’ve posted the box score after the jump, but one key takeaway from the game was rookie forward Will Bates actually playing right back for the Sounders. Maybe something to keep an eye on…
