UPDATE 4:30 p.m. — Michael Parkhurst has been called in to replace Evans. Parkhurst is scheduled to arrive in Miami on Monday; he started five of the team’s six CONCACAF Gold Cup games this summer, including the final.

UPDATE 12:52 p.m. — A U.S. Soccer spokesman has confirmed Evans will not be joining the national team due to the calf injury suffered. A news release is expected shortly.

A story posted on SoundersFC.com has said midfielder Brad Evans, who suffered a calf injury in Saturday’s 1-0 road win in Columbus, will stay with the team and did not report to the U.S. men’s national team Sunday.

The Sounders and U.S. Soccer are yet to make an official announcement.

Evans gave this update after the game on his injury: “(Calf injuries) have always nagged me, and every once in a while it just flares up. I’m hoping it’s like the others where I sit out this game and give myself some rest, and be ready in a week.”

Teammates Clint Dempsey and Eddie Johnson were still set to report despite back and hamstring soreness, respectively.
