Sounders on another long shutout streak

The Sounders have won six of their last seven games — a franchise first within a season — but some of the recent success can be attributed to the loss within this hot streak.

That was a 3-1 road defeat in Houston. And it was ugly, particularly on defense.

It should come as no surprise that Seattle put a lot of effort afterward into defending, and the results have been pretty clear. The Sounders haven’t allowed a goal since the Dynamo debacle, a run of 286 minutes, a team high for 2013.

Here is a look at the best shutout streaks in MLS this season (and you’ll notice Seattle has three in the top 10):
