Here are the highlights from the USMNT’s 2-0 win against Mexico in Tuesday’s World Cup qualifier. Eddie Johnson had the opening goal at about the 2:40 mark (and here is a view of the goal from the stands).
At that point, current Sounders had accounted for 10 of the last 14 goals for the USMNT in qualifying (Clint Dempsey 5, Johnson 4, Brad Evans 1). Dempsey missed a penalty kick in the final minute of the game, as well.
Johnson has scored four goals in his last six international games and four goals in this qualifying cycle. He has 12 goals in qualifying over his career, third in federation history behind Dempsey and Landon Donovan, who have 13.
