The big news for Seattle is Brad Evans has been ruled out, according to coach Sigi Schmid after Thursday’s practice.
“Evans is a no-go for tomorrow, so we’re hoping for the L.A. game,” Schmid said. “We think if we had tried to throw him out there tomorrow, we’d have jeopardized the L.A game. But he felt much much better today. He wanted to do more, but we had to put the reins on him and say, ‘No, that’s enough. You’re good. Let’s keep moving forward.”
You might notice Obafemi Martins is no longer listed with the sprained ankle, which is a good sign. I asked Schmid if the DP forward got through the week OK after returning last game against Chicago.
“He came through very well,” the coach said. “It was good for him. It was a good training week. He didn’t have any issues with his ankle, felt all right with that, was able to train through everything and do everything. It’s good. It helps his fitness and he looked sharp all week.”
Alvaro Saborio is the big loss for RSL, as he has 10 goals in 13 games this season.
