The league website runs an annual feature called “24 Under 24″. The idea is to rank the 24 best players in MLS under, you guessed it, the age of 24.
This year, Sounders FC’s dynamic defender DeAndre Yedlin came in at No. 3. The Seattle native has had a standout rookie campaign that includes being named an MLS All-Star.
“If you would’ve gone back to January or February, and somebody said, ‘OK, predict the 24 list,’ I don’t know if DeAndre is even on the list,” said coach Sigi Schmid, “so I think he’s done well for himself. He’s drawn attention to himself, and I think it’s a great accomplishment for him.”
Seattle has had regular representation on the list. Fredy Montero was ranked No. 1 in 2010. Steve Zakuani was ranked No. 4 in 2010 and 2011. Andy Rose was No. 24 last year.

What do you make of the list? Surprised to see Federal Way’s Kelyn Rowe not even make the top 24?
