The Sounders are off the practice field on this rainy Saturday, and here are a couple injury updates. Essentially, they are the same as Friday when it comes to Clint Dempsey (hamstring) and Leo Gonzalez (groin).
First on the superstar.
“Dempsey was out today, ran today, did some ball work, so he definitely continues to improve,” said coach Sigi Schmid. “We’ll see. I don’t see him starting. We’ll make a decision tomorrow whether we think he’s in the 18 or not.”
Gonzalez was deemed more doubtful of the two earlier in the week, but the veteran defender hasn’t been officially ruled out yet.
“It’s a possibility,” said Schmid. “It’s a risk-reward type of decision.”
As a positive, it looks like guys like Eddie Johnson, Obafemi Martins, Mauro Rosales and Brad Evans were able to get through the week.
