Sounders no longer have league’s best PPG but still have most maximum points
Sounders FC had taken the league’s top points-per-game average on Sept. 4, a midweek win against Chivas USA, and held it all the way until Wednesday, a midweek loss to Vancouver.
Seattle’s PPG fell to 1.65 in defeat, one hundredth of a point behind Eastern Conference-leading New York.
Destiny is still the Sounders’ hands, however, as they still have the highest amount of maximum points. If Seattle wins out, starting Sunday on the road against Portland, it will win the Supporters’ Shield.
Obviously that prospect seems increasingly less likely amid a four-game winless, which includes three losses, a couple in blowout fashion, but those are the facts.
