A three-game losing streak, Sounders FC’s first since 2010, has Seattle down to third in the Western Conference.
Seattle no longer has control of its own destiny for the Supporters’ Shield and failed to clinch a playoff berth for the fourth-straight game.
But the season isn’t over, and here are some quick updates on how the Sounders can lock up their fifth-straight trip to postseason:
— Win. Starting on the road Saturday at FC Dallas, the next win would do it.
— If San Jose drops points. The ‘Quakes have to win out to be able to pass the Sounders.
— A Colorado loss. The Rapids play Vancouver twice in a row, and any defeat would do.
In those next games, San Jose goes on the road to play the Los Angeles Galaxy next Sunday. Colorado hosts the Whitecaps on Saturday.
So there will be a few options.
