Six-game winless drought matches Sounders’ second longest as a franchise

Sounders FC’s four-game losing streak is a franchise record. But Seattle has also gone six games without a win, which is also notable in that it matches the second-longest slump the team has ever had.

The only one worse was an 0-4-5 stretch last season around the time of a lengthy injury to starting goalkeeper Michael Gspurning (who, coincidentally, has been benched in the Sounders last two games).

Here is a look at Seattle’s worst winless streaks, many of which were followed by pretty impressive unbeaten streaks afterward:

9 games: 0-4-5, in 2012 (May 12 to July 4)
6 games: 0-4-2, in 2013 (Sept. 21 … current)
6 games: 0-1-5, in 2009 (May 2 to June 6)
5 games: 0-3-2, in 2013 (March 2 to April 13)
4 games: 0-2-2, in 2010 (April 22 to May 8)
4 games: 0-3-1, in 2010 (June 10 to July 11)
4 games: 0-2-2, in 2011 (March 15 to April 2)
