Three MLS teams have qualified for the 2013-14 CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinals after the group stage wrapped up this week.
Here is how the final eight finished and were seeded:
|Rank||Team (Country)||Record||Points||Goal diff. (scored/allowed)|
|1||Toluca (Mexico)||4-0-0||12||+11 (15/4)|
|2||Cruz Azul (Mexico)||4-0-0||12||+8 (10/2)|
|3||Club Tijuana (Mexico)||3-0-1||10||+8 (10/2)|
|4||Araba Unido (Panama)||3-1-0||9||+4 (7/3)|
|5||Alajuelense (Costa Rica)||3-1-0||9||+3 (4/1)|
|6||LA Galaxy (USA)||3-1-0||9||+2 (4/2)|
|7||Sporting KC (USA)||2-0-2||8||+4 (5/1)|
|8||SJ Earthquakes (USA)||2-2-0||6||+2 (4/2)|
The quarterfinal matchups are set up 1v8, 2v7, 3v6, 4v5, meaning there will be three MLS-Mexico series once the tournament resumes early next year.
Houston and Montreal were the MLS teams that didn’t make it out of the group stage. The Dynamo finished second to Arabe Unido with seven points in Group 1 after a 1-0 loss to the Panamanian side Thursday. The Impact finished second to San Jose in Group 5 on tiebreakers after all three teams finished with six points.
The Galaxy 4-0’s road loss Thursday to El Salvador’s Isidro Metapan really hurt the team’s seeding.
