Offer still stands for Brad Evans to serve as King County Sheriff for a day

There was a fun little side plot leading into Thursday’s second leg in the Western Conference semifinals.

It involved Sounders FC midfielder Brad Evans serving as sheriff.

Let me explain.

It started with a tweet from Aaron Campeau, a Sounders FC fan and co-host of the Nos Audietis podcast, that showed him voting for Evans as a write-in option for King County Sheriff in this week’s elections.

The tweet went viral, and Evans apparently developed quite the write-in support in the ballots.

The covert campaign was noticed by eventual winner, incumbent John Urquhart, who offered to let Evans be sheriff for a day if the Sounders came back to beat Portland in the playoffs. Evans seemed excited about it, as well.

While Seattle was unable to prevail on the field, this story at least has a happy ending — as you can see above.

The offer stands, and if he still wants, Evans will have a chance to serve as sheriff.
