Q13 FOX has announced it will broadcast Sounders FC regular games next season on KCPQ (Ch.13) and JOEtv-KZJO (Ch.10). Sounders game had previously been aired on KING-5 and KONG 6/16, the local NBC affiliate. FOX will have 21 games and the other 13 will be on national television.
Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed. An official broadcast schedule will be released soon.
Q13 will produce and air two-30 minute specials on the team all season, as opposed to the regular Sounders FC Weekly show during the previous arrangement. The team will, however, be featured at the end of Q It Up Sports on Friday nights. And since the Sounders produce the game broadcasts, the news isn’t expected to impact the status of announcers Ross Fletcher and Kasey Keller.
Here are some quotes from the news release.
“We are proud to broaden our partnership with Q13 FOX/JOEtv to air all local telecasts of Sounders FC matches next season. Q13 FOX and JOEtv are terrific brands and we are excited to work together on producing new and creative programming for Sounders fans.” — Peter McLoughlin, Sounders FC president.
“We are thrilled that the Seattle Sounders will be joining our line-up of stellar sports programming. We look forward to televising the exciting matches and providing the amazing Sounders fans with more team coverage.” — Pam Pearson, senior vice president and general manager of Q13FOX/JOEtv.
